I have to agree, his music is like the soundtrack to my own life. I am 27, and appreciate many genres of music. But in a time where most any ridiculous, trendy tune can make it to the top of the charts, Mr. Lamontagne's music is more than just refreshing. It is a wake up call to all in the music industry. So much today is overproduced and the artist way over publicized in the name of sales. The music is lacking any real substance or vocal achievement, touching nothing in your soul nor heart. Lamontagne music is answer to a generations cry for something more than the "fluff" we have been spoon fed for so long. If you can't sing it live don't record it that way. Take a que, so called artists out there. Ray Lamontagne is the real deal! No smoke or flash here. His voice and lyrics are straight from his soul and somewhere down deep in his heart where he shines a light on what he feels there for us all to hear and connect with. Pick any track of his and it could easily be played on the radio back 40 years, or more, up to now and seem like it belonged there. One big reason being, there is something all great music shares in common and that is the truth of the human experience. We all know that when we hear it. And damn, what a voice to boot! Keep on making music my man and I can dance to barefoot on the porch! Thank you Ray, I can never stay mad at him when he plays any of your songs for me. I am sure he thanks you too!
