For Jasper Ray

For Jasper Ray

Dear Mr. LaMontagne,

I am writing this letter on behalf of a little boy, named Jasper Ray Simpson. His mother is one of my best friends, and her family is like my family. Two months before his second birthday, this past August, Jasper died at the hands of his mother's boyfriend. He was a sweet, loving little boy, who loved birds, balls, and listening to your music. He really loved to dance to Repo Man. His mother, Mandi, and her parents, Tonya and Richard, are enormous fans of your work and have followed you for a long time. They have attended many of your concerts and even had the chance to introduce themselves to you once on the street before one of your shows.
There are many bills to be paid at this time, since Jasper's death, from the Children's Hospital that he was at, and also funeral expenses. Myself, and other friends and family are trying to help find a way to pay for these. I had a dream that you played a benefit concert on behalf of little Jasper, and that the spirits of his family and friends were all there to celebrate his life cut short. I woke up and decided to write to you, because there isn't any harm in trying... I'm sure you are an extremely busy man, and are on the road a lot. I just wanted to give writing to you a shot, in hopes to help my friend.
Thank you for your time and consideration, and I hope this finds you happy and well.

Love,
Brooke Gross from Indiana
